Propaganda campaign against Iran will backfire, Iran Supreme Leader


Tehran : Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that the enemies’ propaganda campaign against Iran will rebound on them, Tehran Times Reprted.  

The Iranian Leader made the remarks in an address to thousands of well-wishers in the western city of Gilan Gharb, Kermanshah Province, on Saturday.

E.U. puts new sanctions against Syria after Turkey seizes arms shipment


E.U puts in news set of sanctions against Syria after Turkey saed it has intercepted an arms shipment at sea destined for the protest-wracked country after another day of deadly demonstrations. 

The new measures are the seventh set of E.U. sanctions imposed to punish the regime of President Bashar al-Assad for its relentless crackdown on dissent that erupted in mid March. Earlier this month, the E.U. adopted a ban on Syrian crude oil imports.

Afghan Army soldier fires on NATO Soldiers killing at least One


KANDAHAR: At least one Nato soldier was killed by an Afghan army soldier this Saturday, near the southern Afghan city of Lashkar Gah, due this week to be one of the first places where Nato will hand security control to Afghan forces, a senior police source said.

“The shooting happened during a joint security patrol,” said the senior police detective, who asked not to be named as he was not authorised to speak to the media.

Suicide bomber attacked the funeral of Karzai's brother


Kandahar :A suicide bomber hits funeral of Karzai's brother killing three people along with the cleric Hikmatullah, head of the Kandahar provincial religious council, and wounded 15 others, the governor of Kandahar Toryali Wesa told the media.

The bomber appears to have hid his explosives in his turban when he arrived at the funeral in the city's Red Mosque.

Pakistan will continue busting underground CIA Networks, ISI chief to tell US


Islamabad : Chief of the Pakistan Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt-Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha is going to give the following message to his American counterpart in Washington: Yes to formalised anti-terror cooperation, No to private CIA network, as he is to meet acting CIA Director Michael Morell on Wednesday.

According to senior intelligence officials here, Pasha would tell the American spy chief that the ISI has no objection to anti-terror cooperation between the two agencies but would never tolerate a private ‘network’ the CIA is secretly maintaining in Pakistan.

Israel bombs Gaza after rocket fire


JERUSALEM: Israeli fighter jets bombed two sites in Gaza early on Wednesday, wounding one woman, Palestinian sources said.

The Israeli military said its aircraft “targeted two weapons manufacturing sites in the northern Gaza Strip.” Direct hits were confirmed and secondary explosions were identified,” the military said in a statement.

U.S General James Mattis Meets Pakistani leaders


ISLAMABAD : U.S Central Command Commander Gen. James Mattis visited Pakistan as part of his routine of visiting and consulting with senior Pakistani military and security officials. 

According to US embassy here, Gen. Mattis met General Kayani, the Chief of the Pakistani Army, and General Wynne, Pakistan’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee to share perspectives on the current relationship between the two militaries and to review the way ahead. 

This is Gen Mattis’ fifth visit to Pakistan in his 11 months as CENTCOM commander.

Cypris Navy Chief among 12 killed in Iranian confiscated ammunition Blast


Nicosia : The head of Cyprus' navy, Andreas Ioannides, was among 12 people killed when seized containers of gunpowder exploded at its main base.

The commander of the Evangelos Florakis base, Lambros Lambrou, also died, reported BBC.

The defence minister and military chief have resigned over the incident, which officials said occurred after a bush fire ignited the explosives.

US drone Kills 10 people in North Waziristan


Miramshah : A US operated drone have attacked a compound by killing atleast 10 people in North Waziristan area according to Local security officials.

The unmanned aircraft fired four missiles, hitting the compound and a vehicle parked nearby in North Waziristan tribal district, a senior official based in Peshawar told AFP

Iran's IRGC calls for foreign warships pullout from Persian Gulf


TEHRAN : The Aerospace Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Amir Ali Hajizadeh called for the withdrawal of foreign warships from the Persian Gulf, local Mehr news agency reported on Sunday.

The countdown for the withdrawal of foreign warships from the Persian Gulf has started, Hajizadeh was quoted as saying.

Israel Jails 120 foriegn activists


JERUSALEM : Israel has jailed some 120 foreign activists Saturday after  they arrived at Tel Aviv's airport over the weekend as part of a solidarity mission with the Palestinians.

Others who managed to get through Israeli border controls traveled to the West Bank where they joined a demonstration against Israel's separation barrier. Associated Press Television footage showed some foreign activists, along with Palestinians, cutting threw the barrier's barbed wire fence with clippers.

Afghan war success possible without Pakistan help, Gates

NATO raids kills civilians in Libya


Tripoli : Many civilians have been killed in a NATO air strike in eastern Tripoli in the early hours of Sunday morning according to a footage of raid shown on state TV. Reporters were taken to a residential area in the city's Arada neighbourhood and saw a body pulled out of the rubble of a destroyed building.

"There was intentional and deliberate targeting of the civilian houses," Khaled Kaim, Libya's deputy foreign minister, said.

US 'nearly completes' troop drawdown in Pakistan


ISLAMABAD — The United States said Friday that it had nearly completed a drawdown in military personnel from Pakistan as demanded by Islamabad when relations plummeted over the killing of Osama bin Laden.

Canada to pull out of a Key Nato air surveillance Programme


OTTAWA: Canadian has announced that he is withdrawing from a key Nato air surveillance program as part of cost-cutting measures.

The Nato Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) is widely used by the alliance in Afghanistan and Libya to monitor air space and guide fighter jets to their targets.

London : India's best known painter Maqbool Fida Husain died in exile in London on Thursday aged 95, a close friend of the artist told Reuters.

"He died of old age. It happened early this morning," said Munna Zaveri, a friend of Husain for 40 years, before leaving for London. "He was in hospital for some time and was supposed to come home today or tomorrow but his condition worsened."

Zawahiri vows to continue al-Qaeda's jihad


Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda's second in command, has issued a eulogy for Osama bin Laden, saying the slain group's chief terrified the US when he was alive and would continue to do so in death.

On deaf ears: Obama's message to Israel


Late May's extraordinary sequence of speeches and meetings involving US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu - and the commentary surrounding it from official circles in both countries - did not make for an edifying interlude. 

The week beginning May 19 will not be remembered for displays of farsighted statecraft, or high moral courage. Gaza : Angry Palestinians have protested on the Rafah terminal after Egypt shut the border crossing with Gaza for the first time since Egypt's new military government has declared that the Rafah crossing will remain open permanently.

Palestinian border officials said three buses filled with 180 passengers had waited several hours to cross the border at Rafah, the Hamas-ruled territory's gateway to Egypt, and some of those waiting responded by forcing the gate open.

Two Nato troops killed in southern Afghanistan

India warns Pakistan over any new terror attacks


SINGAPORE: A top defence official has warned that India would likely retaliate if another terror attack on its soil is linked to members of Pakistan’s security apparatus.

Egypt limits crossings at Gaza border

GAZA:  Egypt government ruled by Army has reimposed restrictions Wednesday on the number of Palestinians allowed to enter from the Gaza Strip at the Rafah crossing, days after permanently opening the border point in a move to ease Israel’s blockade of the Hamas-ruled territory.

Hatem Aweidah, who is in charge of border crossings for the Hamas government in Gaza, said that Egyptian officials had set a limit of 350 to 400 travelers who would be granted entry each day, on the grounds that border personnel could not handle more.
